Word Study on John 10:10

For those who are unfamiliar with scripture word studies it simply means to take the words in the scripture and break them down to their root word definitions. Just as you would look in a regular dictionary to gain a greater understanding of the word you were studying, so the same goes for word studies in scripture.

The New Testament of the bible was written in Greek, so the words we are looking at today have the letter “G” after them followed by a number. If you were studying in a physical Strong’s Concordance the letter “G” would tell you to look in the Greek section of the concordance. Here it is done electronically but if you have a Strong’s then you can simply take those numbers and look them up.

Some words will have a “root word,” then that happens you will see the root word definition under the previous word study; it usually includes the words “From…” followed by the number.

Studying scripture in the manner is a very good way of gaining both an understanding and a deeper meaning of the scripture being studied. It also will help you with memorizing scriptures as well. And, of course, studying in the form is a very good way NOT to be deceived by those who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. In other words, you won’t be deceived when someone gives you a different definition for the words you’ve already studied.
