I joined a group on Facebook called “Altus, (state) Opinions and Discussions” and tried to post the following questions and look at how these idiots answered me! THIS is how intelligent questions get answered!!! (Hence the reason for the picture I posted.)

I have posted this question twice now and none has bothered to answer me so I’m specifically putting the three of you in this post so that perhaps one of you will.

Question – why are some meetings held at noon? How are those different from the regular council meetings and how often do they take place? Are they open to the public or just council / city people? Are agendas provided at these meetings like they are at regular council meetings and can a person get copies of the agenda if they aren’t able to attend a meeting? Are they online perhaps?

All meetings are posted by the City Clerk's office according to the open meetings act - look by the east door of the city complex. All meetings are open to the public.

@ Lloyd - Actually no it doesn’t. First of all the link doesn’t work on this computer, secondly I want someone who actually attends these meetings here in Altus to answer these questions. I mean I appreciate you taking the time to answer me (that’s better than being completely ignored like I have been) but that doesn’t help me at all, I can’t even read it.

@ Belinda – I appreciate your answer as well but that still does not tell me what exactly happens at these meetings, why they are held at noon or different from the regular council meetings.

@ Others – please if you do not specifically attend these meetings and can answer these questions please do not answer this post. Thank you.

I would like to add that as the Emergency Management Coordinator, Lloyd does attend many of the City Council meetings. As a former employee of the City, I did see the postings on the east door of City Hall. I have also attended a great many of City Council Meetings. The noon meetings are similar to any other meetings, in so much as they don't always involve the same matters. As far as not wanting anyone to post, this is a free community social page and anyone is allowed and encouraged to post on any one of these threads. If you do not want to read them then don't. If you want an answer only from the Councilman then I recommend that your send them a direct message.

The Facebook Timeline – My Thoughts

Could someone please explain to me why Facebook is FORCING users to change to the new timeline? I started using Facebook because MySpace FORCED their new format on their users and now I feel like Facebook is doing the same exact thing! I’ve seen the new timeline and I HATE IT!!! It reminds me of why I left MySpace and trust me, if it wasn’t for the fact that I am connected to several old friends from my childhood I would leave Facebook as well.

I can’t tell you the number of people who I’ve talked to who hate the timeline as much as I do but no one writes in because those of you in the corporate offices NEVER LISTEN TO THE LITTLE PEOPLE. You all are just as bad as the government, you just shove your program down our throats and expect us to like it and not say a word and that’s not right.

You’re original concept for Facebook is what set you apart from MySpace and now you’re going to look just like them. Is that really what you want? To look like the old outdated social network that no one likes or uses any more because if it’s not then my suggestion to you would be to NOT FORCE us to use the new timeline.

The Monkees' front man, Davy Jones, has died at the age of 66. His death was confirmed to People by the medical examiner in Martin County, Fla. The news was first reported by TMZ.

The "Daydream Believer" singer passed away at Martin Memorial Hospital in Florida on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack, according to TMZ.

The Britain-born star began his career as a child actor on the long-running U.K. soap opera "Coronation Street" before finding fame in the 1960s as a member of the Monkees, a group formed to star in a TV series of the same name.

The band split in 1971, and Jones went on to established himself as a solo star. He also joined forces with fellow Monkee Micky Dolenz to form their own group, Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart, with songwriters Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart.

The Monkees reunited for a troubled tour in 2001. Another reunion, for their 45th anniversary trek last year, also ended abruptly when they canceled the second half of the tour without explanation.

Jones last hit the stage on Feb. 19 for a solo show in Oklahoma.

Former Monkee Davy Jones Dies At Age 66 In Florida

(Reuters) - Davy Jones, former lead singer of the 1960s made-for-television pop band The Monkees, died on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack in Florida, according to his longtime publicist. He was 66.

Jones' death was confirmed by Christine Weekes, administrative manager for the medical examiner's office in Fort Pierce, Florida, near the Martin Memorial Hospital South where the performer had been taken.

His publicist, Helen Kensick, said Jones died of a heart attack in Indiantown, Florida, but she had no further details.

Jones, born in Manchester, England, became the principal teen idol of the rock quartet featured on the NBC comedy series "The Monkees," which was inspired in part by the Beatles film "A Hard Day's Night" and ran for two seasons from the fall of 1966 to August of 1968.

Although not allowed to play their own instruments on their early records, Jones and his three cohorts -- Micky Dolenz, Mike Nesmith and Peter Tork -- had several hits that sold millions of copies, including "Last Train to Clarksville" and "I'm a Believer."

Jones got his start as a young actor, at the age of 11, on the British soap opera "Coronation Street" before landing a role as the Artful Dodger in a West End production of "Oliver!" He went on to originate that role for the Broadway production and earned a Tony nomination.

But Jones gained stardom after answering a casting call for a new TV series being created about the zany misadventures of four Beatles-like rock musicians called the Monkees. Two members of the group, Nesmith and Tork, were actual musicians with performing and recording experience, while Jones and Dolenz were primarily actors who more or less dabbled in music.

Although disparaged by critics as the "Pre-Fab Four" for the manufactured way in which the band came together, the group proved to be adept performers who were eventually given control over their own recordings.

The TV series, introduced by its catchy theme, "Hey, Hey, We're the Monkees," debuted as an immediate ratings hit weeks after the group's first single, "Last Train to Clarksville," had topped the pop charts.

The group collaborated early on with some of the major songwriters and session musicians of the day, including Neil Diamond, Carole King, Glen Campbell and Hal Blaine.

The self-titled first LP topped the album charts that October, and the popularity of the group generated a wave of merchandising, including toys, games and lunchboxes. But their first and only feature film, "Head," was a box-office flop.

After their fifth album, the group began to splinter, releasing two more albums as a trio without Tork and one last LP as a duo following Nesmith's exit in 1969.

Meras issued an apology once he realized his joke had gotten out of hand, but not before inciting the wrath of every "Black Adder" aficionado with a Twitter handle. @mynamesamy_ rages "Whoever started that is sick"; @WeThinkMiley simply succumbed to Twitter death-hoax ennui, complaining, "Retweet if you think these fake RIPs are getting boring."

Jezebel finds the needs of the leader and does them, but they are not pure but they are willing to do the job because the people of God will not stand and take their place in Him.

Jezebel is the manifestation of every believer that is in the body of Christ that is not in their (proper) place.

Every time God tells you to do something and you don’t do it, you give up your place to the spirit of Jezebel.

One thing about Jezebel, because she is not govern with God, you cannot kill her. You cannot kill her by rebuking her, you cannot kill her by praying against her, you cannot kill this spirit by fasting. You only kill this spirit when you obey; when you get in your place in God it dismantles her!

Baal is worshipped when that spirit has found the weakness of the believer and whatever that weakness is, that becomes the praise of that spirit.

Examples of Baal worship are:

·        Homosexuality

·        Perversion

·        War

·        And so on

Whatever the weakness is in the leader that is the spirit that dominates the church.

Whatever the weakness is in the family of the leadership becomes the glory of the house and you can not kill it until divine order is set back in place and the first family gets on their face…

Take Action To Demand Tape Delays for All Live Broadcasts

Last week we shared with you a statement from the NFL, promising that this year’s Super Bowl halftime show would be an “exciting and entertaining show that will be appropriate for our audience.”

The NFL broke their word, and let families down… again.

In case you missed it, during Sunday night’s game, performer M.I.A. directed an obscene gesture at the camera while singing, “I don’t give a sh**.”

It is unfortunate that a spectacular sporting event was overshadowed once again by broadcasting the selfish acts of a desperate performer. For the second time in recent memory, the most-watched television event of the year (this year, in fact, the most-watched television event in US history, with over 111 million viewers) left parents across the country lunging for their remote controls.

The NFL has betrayed the trust and goodwill of families across America by inviting artists known for courting controversy to perform during the half-time show.  The NFL offered an apology, of sorts: "There was a failure in NBC's delay system.  The obscene gesture in the performance was completely inappropriate, very disappointing, and we apologize to our fans."

Though the NFL clearly exhibited poor judgment and a certain naivety in assuming this group of performers would deliver an “appropriate” halftime show, NBC is ultimately responsible for anything that goes out over the broadcast airwaves they license. 

Whatever mechanisms NBC had in place to catch this type of material completely failed when it mattered most – during the most-watched television event in history. It is time for NBC to put a new system in place to prevent future such occurrences; and if there was a provision in the performers’ contracts to hold them responsible for any indecent behavior, it should be enforced. 

NBC cannot plausibly claim they were caught off guard.  It has been eight years since the Janet Jackson striptease, and both NBC and the NFL knew full well what might happen. They chose a lineup full of performers who have based their careers on shock, profanity and titillation. Instead of preventing indecent material, they enabled it. M.I.A. used a middle finger shamelessly to bring controversial attention to herself, while effectively telling an audience filled with children, ‘F– you.’

The networks have demonstrated zero interest in safeguarding the broadcast airwaves, and last night’s Super Bowl debacle is just the latest proof.  If NBC had procedures in place, adequately trained staff, a reasonable time delay, and a commitment to preventing inappropriate content from airing during live broadcasts, the entire incident could have been avoided. Instead, NBC prefers to pretend that they can’t control what happens during a live show, and argue to the U.S. Supreme Court for freedom from responsibility for anything that happens during their watch. 

This can not stand, and should not be tolerated any longer. If this were the first time NBC erred during a live broadcast, it might be understandable, but NBC has allowed these "accidents" to happen time and time again. Enough already.

Please take action today by signing our petition to demand NBC put all future live broadcasts on an adequate tape delay and to hold on-air talent accountable for their actions during live broadcasts.  And please, share this e-mail with friends who share your values and concerns.

We will deliver the petition to NBC and all of its affiliates to let them know we are fed-up with their careless disregard for America's families.  the obligations and responsibility that come with the licensed use of the broadcast airwaves.

The NFL and NBC must take responsibility for allowing this offensive material to air in front of one hundred million Americans; and they must take immediate steps to ensure this never happens again.

How To Discern Spiritual Abuse

A definite give away to extreme degrees of control is how much room does the group allow for members to express complaints about leadership or the organization?
A controlling group will reward objecting or having a critical attitude of leadership by jerking the complainant out of the hierarchy. If you are in a position of leadership you probably will be asked to step down. In the spiritually abusive group one learns fast that you need to be a "YES MAN' if you expect to go anywhere.

Removal from leadership is an unspoken understanding of what will happen and it is very subtle. Most groups deny this tactic. But there are hundreds of examples of faithful believers who challenged leadership and were so surprised at their quick downfall.

Does your group or church use this method of control? Ask yourself these questions:
When yours or the opinion of other's has been different than the leaders, do you receive negative feedback even in areas dealing with non-moral issues? For example, in a controlling church or group, they feel they have the right to tell you what is right or is wrong in virtually all aspects of your life and give no room for you to use your own conscience in these matters.

Does this group strictly censure any criticism of leaders in writing? (as in resignation letters or blogs???) The more of these you say yes to, the more harmful this groups can be.Does this group give negative feedback of any form of criticism about the leaders or the group? Do they squelch anything critical thinking about the leaders, the group, or its beliefs and practices?

When you do have a complaint against a leader (or leaders), does this group insist that they only way to deal with this problem is to go to the person that you have the complaints against? In non controlling churches you could deal with this problem in a variety of ways without being told that you are "handling it wrong." In a controlling church they are normally very rigid and usually insist if you have some criticism, you must go to that person that you have the complaint against. If you do go to the leader you usually find yourself repenting of having done so?

When you think about it, it is like your boss saying that you can never criticize any actions or he would have you fired on the spot. A dictatorship is a better way to understand this statement. At least Dictators are honest about their wanting total control of every ones negative thoughts about leadership. There is suppression of freedom of speech and behavior from the use of these tactics.

One groups ministry manual said, "A critical attitude of fellow staff, of the ...... ...... ministry or of other individuals or groups shall be considered as evidence of disloyalty to Christ, and shall be accepted as an act of resignation."

One can be sure that their existence will be dispensed in a controlling group if they say one negative comment. Not only will you be out but you will be told you are also speaking against God! That makes the group and its leaders synonymous with God in the members' minds!

Picture yourself on staff in a main-line church. One day they hand you a rulebook that states: "Anyone who criticizes our ministry, is considered disloyal to God Himself, and will excommunicated and dismissed immediately.”Lifton said, about an environment of thought control, "This sacredness is evident in the prohibition (whether or not explicit) against the questioning of basic assumptions, and in the reverence which is demanded for the originators of the Word, the present bearers of the Word, and the Word itself. ... Thus the ultimate moral vision becomes an ultimate science; and the man who dares to criticize it, or to harbor even unspoken alternative ideas, becomes not only immoral and irreverent, but also..."... illogical or total irrational." This whole idea of not even voicing one negative thought against the leaders and equating that with disloyalty to Jesus Christ makes the leaders like God. You cannot question them or you are questioning God. This supersedes all consideration of human rights. This assumes as Dr. Lifton, a clinical psychologist, stated, "...any thought or action which questions the higher purpose is considered to be stimulated by a lower purpose, to be backward, selfish, and petty in the face of the great, overriding mission."and independent action." Lifton was talking about thought reform cases that he studied in China.

If you are a church leader DON'T THINK YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH THIS in your church if you taught your flock NOT TO SAY ANYTHING THAT THEY DISAGREED WITH TO OTHERS. THEY CAN ONLY COME TO YOU IN PRIVATE AND NOT SHARE THIS WITH OTHERS. That would give you time to work on that person and "help" them see that they are not thinking right. If the person still held their own ground claiming that you were not scriptural, then you would have a chance to discredit this person. You could tell the congregation that this person was "totally irrational" to ensure that no one will listen or believe that person's information. You could even secretly encourage this person never to come back to this church. If the person felt unwelcome enough by this approach, you may never have to deal with them again. Or you could simply excommunicate them and turn the congregation against them to the point they won't even speak to that person.?? Can you see how stifling this would be to becoming the person you are meant to be before God? If you said, you don't like it but it is okay for the group you are with then you could have a big problem. God wants us to freely choose to serve Him out of Love - not by coercion!

(1) The claim of direct authority from God, rather than testing things by the Word. Many today have set "personal" revelation and experience above the final authority of God's Word. When this occurs there is no longer any basis for ascertaining the will of God, as one would not be able to discern truth from error because the standard is "personal" rather than the Word of God.

(2) The command is to "submit to me," rather than "I will serve you."

(3) The method of leadership is to "order" people around, rather than to appeal for them to do the right things.

(4) There is a dominating, "pushy" drive instead of a dependence on God to direct.

(5) There is a sense of control, rather than a sense of support.

(6) A gift is exploited so that others are made to feel dependent on it.

(7) There is an inflexibility – "don't question me" – "don't touch the Lord's anointed."

(8) There is unapproachability and intimidation – the "aura" around the leader keeps the followers in "awe."

(9) There emerges an organization built around a man and his peculiar emphases instead of around Christ and His Word.

(10) There will be cyclical challenges to the authority figure (which are immediately and forcefully purged).

(11) There is more concern for maintaining the authoritarian structure than there is for caring about the people in it.
